Students should continue to study a broad and balanced curriculum to the end of KS3, to ensure as many options as possible are available to KS4 and KS5 when students decide on their KS4 options subjects to being in Year 10.
All students in Year 9 will study the following KS3 core curriculum:
• English
• Science
• Maths
• Core PE/Games
• History
• Geography
• IT/Computer Science
• French or German (you will choose which one to study in Year 9)
• PSHCE
Choices subjects - choose three of the subjects below to continue to study in Year 9:
If you do not choose one of the eight subjects in Year 9, you will not be able to continue to study them in Year 10/11. You need to make choices with this in mind.
- Art
- Business Studies
- Design Technology (Product Design)
- Drama
- Ethics and Philosophy (RE)
- Food Technology (Catering)
- Music
- PE Theory
Some subjects have a capacity, for example a maximum of 60 students can opt for Catering. If a subject reaches capacity, students' reserve subjects will be considered. It is very important to choose reserve subjects carefully.
WHAT TO DO:
1) MFL: Choose between French or German (or both*) to continue to study in Year 9. If you only study one language at the moment, tick that one as you will continue with it in Year 9.
2) CHOICES: You must choose three different subjects. Rank the three subjects in order of preference - number one is your top subject.
3) You must also choose one reserve subject; we aim to offer your first three choices, but sometimes we can’t.
4) If you choose Choices PE Theory, you will also continue with Core PE/Games lessons.
The deadline for submitting a completed choices form is Monday 18th March 2024
